To write articles is important for every researcher. For political scientist it is also crucially important to analyse his colleague's works; then he will be able to hone his writing, analytical, critical skills.

Today we would like to present you an exemplary analysis of Ivan Sapsay's article "Problems of implementation of anti-corruption policy in the business level in the Russian Federation".

The main point and aim of this work – "to identify the reasons for the ineffectiveness of anti-corruption policy in the private sector in the Russian Federation". The author points out that the topic of corruption is mostly studied by economists and so he became the pioneer in this sphere among his colleagues.

From this article we can take some most successful examples of argumentation:
1
The author explains, why he took these particular theories, showing their advantages on the explanation of the given problem. For instance, he introduces a principle-agent theory to explain motives of main factors in corruption deals and basic reasons for corruption itself. This theory he also uses to answer his research question.
2
Before explaining every reason of inefficiency of anticorruption policy, he lists all of those reasons twice: in the beginning and in the end. Such a ring structure introduces coherence and completeness of the main idea.
"The research showed that the implementation of anti-corruption reforms at the private sector level is hindered by such factors as lack of incentives for company managers to comply with corporate ethics, lack of necessary resources for companies, lack of motivation to develop and implement anti-corruption policies, and the inability of the private sector to pool their common resources for the viability of compliance projects".
3
All of his ideas and thoughts, which the author uses, he summarizes, so one conclusion comes from another. In the text there is one main thesis, but also many small theses are in every argument, which are always proven.

For instance, in the beginning of his work, Ivan says that "theoretical concepts will be considered to achieve the goal and determine the reasons for the failure of the anti-corruption policy at the private sector level", and, after describing each of it, he summarizes how this or that theory influenced the topic.

4
The author moves from theory to practice: in the beginning he introduces some theoretical arguments, after that – results of his practical researches. It is important to highlight that, coming to practice, he lists all used methods of collecting information.
"To estimate the implementation of the political course, an interview was conducted with a representative of a business association "Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation", a representative of large business, as well as an expert of a commercial organization engaged in combating fraud in companies. All respondents wished to remain anonymous. The sites of companies that are members of the Anti-Corruption Charter of Russian Business were also monitored. "
We hope that the analysis of this article will help you to concentrate in those aspects, which really need your time and attention (for example, structure, logic, and explanations). When you will write your own research, try to use tips listed above. And remember that only practice will help you improve yourself in any case.
